Every year in France, more than 1.8 million children and teenagers are hospitalised (ATIH 2023 figures). Whatever the length of their hospital stay, this experience is often a source of anxiety, distress and loneliness for children and their families.
For 35 years now, Le Rire Médecin’s mission has been to improve the hospital experience for children by bringing personalised artistic performances, tailored to the healthcare setting, right into paediatric wards. In this way, each child is supported through the ordeal of hospitalisation through play and laughter.
Since 1991, Le Rire Médecin has been giving hospitalised children back the power to play and laugh, helping them cope better with illness.
Integrated into the weekly routine of 85 paediatric wards, the association’s 155 professional clowns create more than 100,000 performances each year, adapted to each child’s situation and designed for children, their families and healthcare teams.
You can support Le Rire Médecin by donating - once or on a regular basis. You can also leave a gift in your will. Your contribution will have a real impact.
Moreover, the association is always looking for volunteers at their headquarters or to help during events. Find out how to volunteer.
