Shurgard offers self-storage at two different locations in Groningen: on Peizerweg and on Bornholmstraat.
Shurgard Groningen Bornholmstraat provides over 450 individual units spread over two floors. As from 1st November 2019, this storage location is serviced from Shurgard Groningen Peizerweg. Although you can rent storage units at both locations, our office is situated at our main facility Shurgard Groningen Peizerweg.
So if you could use some expert advice or need extra packing material such as moving boxes, tape guns and mattress covers, you can always count on our store managers on Peizerweg!
Near the centre and the A7 motorway
Shurgard Groningen Bornholmstraat is easy to reach for residents of the entire Groningen area. You will find us on Bornholmstraat, parallel to Europaweg.
- We're only minutes from the motorway: take exit 38 Groningen or exit 39 Westerbroek from the A7 motorway.
- Public transportation is just as easy: buses 12 and 73 call at the Antwerpenweg stop. Right near our store.
- Our office and shop at Shurgard Groningen Peizerweg is a 10-minute drive away.
Easy and efficient self-storage
If you rent a storage unit on the ground floor, you will often be able to park right in front of your storage unit.
If you rent an unit on the upper floors, use our trolleys and goods lifts to transport your belongings upstairs and to your storage unit.
Security measures in place
- Your storage unit is equipped with a lock to which only you have the key.
- You will be given a personal PIN code that gives you access to the premise.
- There is 24 hours CCTV in and around the store.

Below are the only extra costs you may need to pay:
- One-off admin fee of € 20: this amount is only applicable when you sign your first contract with us. Returning customers don't need to pay this fee.
- Goods coverage: for your own protection, you’ll need to get goods coverage for the belongings that you store with us. You can opt for a customised goods coverage policy starting at € 16 per month.
- Lock: to guarantee no one else can access your storage unit, you will need to buy a lock designed to fit a Shurgard storage unit at € 14,90. You can re-use this lock when you rent another storage unit at any Shurgard facility.

With units on the ground floor, you don’t have to use a lift to transport your belongings from your vehicle to your storage unit. This is especially convenient if you need to frequently store heavy or bulky items.

Lockers are smaller storage units, at about 1 metre high and range in surface area from 0.5 to 1.5 m². Lockers are ideal for storing a few moving boxes, suitcases or your spare tyres.

You can rent your storage unit for an initial period of one month. After this period, your contract will automatically be renewed on a monthly basis.

Yes, at Shurgard you can rent a locker or a 1 m² storage unit - ideal for storing your spare set of tyres at a reasonable price.

Upstairs storage units are often cheaper than those on the ground floor of the same size, so choose these if you don’t have a lot of bulky or heavy stuff to store, or if you don’t have to frequently move stuff in and out of your unit. At Shurgard you can still conveniently access your upstairs storage unit with the help of our spacious lifts and trolleys.

Pretty much anything for personal and business reasons, such as furniture, clothes, sports equipment, archives and stock. There is a list of prohibited items in our Terms and Conditions. They include food and illegal, explosive, or hazardous materials.

You are the only person who can access your storage unit. You may also authorise someone else to access your unit on your behalf.
