Easy and efficient self-storage
Our building is designed especially for self-storage so that you can always reach your unit quickly and easily:
- There is ample parking at our premise and there is enough room to turn a vehicle with a fully loaded trailer.
- You can also drive your vehicle into the building via our drive-through to unload inside.
- Use our trolleys to move your belongings to your storage unit.
- If your storage unit is on the upper floor, use our goods lift to bring your belongings upstairs.
We also offer storage units on the ground floor with street access, where you can park in front of the door to load and unload.
Security measures in place
- Our Rotterdam Alexander facility is equipped with 24 hour CCTV monitoring.
- You can only access the premises using your personal PIN codes. This code is also required to operate the lift that bring you only to the floor where your storage unit is located.
- You are the only one with a key to the lock on your own personal unit.
You can access your storage unit 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Below are the only extra costs you may need to pay:
- One-off admin fee of € 20: this amount is only applicable when you sign your first contract with us. Returning customers don't need to pay this fee.
- Goods coverage: for your own protection, you’ll need to get goods coverage for the belongings that you store with us. You can opt for a customised goods coverage policy starting at € 16 per month.
- Lock: to guarantee no one else can access your storage unit, you will need to buy a lock designed to fit a Shurgard storage unit at € 14,90. You can re-use this lock when you rent another storage unit at any Shurgard facility.

With units on the ground floor, you don’t have to use a lift to transport your belongings from your vehicle to your storage unit. This is especially convenient if you need to frequently store heavy or bulky items.

Lockers are smaller storage units, at about 1 metre high and range in surface area from 0.5 to 1.5 m². Lockers are ideal for storing a few moving boxes, suitcases or your spare tyres.

You can rent your storage unit for an initial period of one month. After this period, your contract will automatically be renewed on a monthly basis.

Upstairs storage units are often cheaper than those on the ground floor of the same size, so choose these if you don’t have a lot of bulky or heavy stuff to store, or if you don’t have to frequently move stuff in and out of your unit. At Shurgard you can still conveniently access your upstairs storage unit with the help of our spacious lifts and trolleys.

Pretty much anything for personal and business reasons, such as furniture, clothes, sports equipment, archives and stock. There is a list of prohibited items in our Terms and Conditions. They include food and illegal, explosive, or hazardous materials.

You are the only person who can access your storage unit. You may also authorise someone else to access your unit on your behalf.
