• How much space do I need to store my archives?
  Our size calculator is an easy tool to figure out how much space you need to store your archives. Also, have a look at our other size help tools. Or call one of our storage experts and we'll gladly help you figure out the right storage size. 
• Is there a cancellation fee if I don’t need the storage unit I reserved?
  No, you can always change the type or size of the reserved storage unit, or you can cancel your reservation for free. We don’t charge a cancellation fee. Call our staff and we will be happy to help you.
• Do I need to pay a deposit when renting a storage unit at Shurgard?
  No, unlike other self-storage providers, Shurgard never asks for a deposit when you rent a storage unit with us.
• Does Shurgard have direct access storage units?
  Yes, all our storage locations in Belgium have direct access units. You can drive your vehicle directly to the door of your storage unit to make loading and unloading easy.
• How do I reach Shurgard Groot-Bijgaarden by car?
  From the R0/E19, take exit 11 Sint-Agatha-Berchem. Turn left at the crossing with Robert Dansaertlaan. You will find us at the end of Emile de Blutslaan.
• Are there any other costs I need to pay when renting a storage unit at Shurgard?
  Below are the only extra costs you may need to pay:

  • One-off admin fee of € 20: this amount is only applicable when you sign your first contract with us. Returning customers don't need to pay this fee.
  • Insurance: for your own protection, you’ll need to get goods coverage for the belongings that you store with us. You can opt for a customised goods coverage policy starting at € 16 per month.
  • Lock: to guarantee no one else can access your storage unit, you will need to buy a lock designed to fit a Shurgard storage unit at € 14,90. You can re-use this lock when you rent another storage unit at any Shurgard facility.
• What is the advantage of storage units located on the ground floor?
  With units on the ground floor, you don’t have to use a lift to transport your belongings from your vehicle to your storage unit. This is especially convenient if you need to frequently store heavy or bulky items.
• Is there a minimum rental period?
  You can rent your storage unit for an initial period of one month. After this period, your contract will automatically be renewed on a monthly basis.
• Do I need to pay when reserving a storage unit?
  No, you only start paying when you sign your rental contract.
• Can I combine the € 1 first month’s rent with the online special offer?
  Yes, our € 1 first month offer can be combined with our online special. This offer is valid for new customers and on selected storage units only.
• Is Shurgard Groot-Bijgaarden easily accessible by public transport?

  The facility can be reached by tram, train, and bus:

  • Tram service 19 – Groot-Bijgaarden Shopping stop – 15 minutes’ walk.
  • Bus services 355 and 371 – Emile de Blutslaan stop – 5 minutes’ walk.
  • Groot-Bijgaarden train station – 15 minutes’ walk.

• How do I determine what storage size I need?

• What can I store at Shurgard?
  Pretty much anything for personal and business reasons, such as furniture, clothes, sports equipment, archives and stock. There is a list of prohibited items in our Terms and Conditions. They include food and illegal, explosive, or hazardous materials.
• Who can access my storage unit?
  You are the only person who can access your storage unit. You may also authorise someone else to access your unit on your behalf.
