More on security at Shurgard.
We use cylinder locks, padlocks, or code locks, depending on the type of unit. All our locks are durable, secure, and specially designed to fit your unit perfectly.

If you have lost the key to your storage unit, please contact the store manager at your Shurgard location as soon as possible. Check the store information page for the exact office address, phone number and opening hours.
Since we do not keep a copy of your key, we can arrange for the lock to be drilled open by a professional locksmith, with your consent. Please note that the cost of this service will be charged to you.
If your storage unit is found unlocked after you’ve left the premises, our store manager will attempt to contact you immediately.
If we're unable to reach you, a temporary lock will be placed on your unit for security. The keys to this lock will be stored securely at the facility. You will also be notified by email about the situation.
Yes, our facilities are monitored through a combination of secure perimeter fencing, access control with personal access codes, and 24-hour CCTV surveillance. These measures help us track who enters and exits the premises and ensure your belongings are well protected.
Our facilities are equipped with fire safety features such as smoke detectors, manual emergency buttons, and fire doors.

The app can be installed on multiple devices, making it easy for customers to grant access to family members, friends or suppliers if needed.
If the alarm is triggered, don’t worry. There is an emergency number displayed on-site to contact store staff during office hours, and another number is available at the exit keypad for use outside of office hours.
In the unlikely event that your storage unit is broken into or damaged, you can file a claim for the insured value of your stored items, as outlined in your insurance certificate.
